As the holy month of Ramadan approaches, renowned religious scholar and former Chairman of the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman, has announced the minimum values for Fitrana and Fidyah for 2025. In his latest statement, he emphasized the importance of fulfilling these charitable obligations according to one’s financial capacity.
Fitrana, also known as Sadqa-e-Fitr, is an obligatory charity that must be given before Eid-ul-Fitr to help those in need. Every Muslim who possesses wealth beyond their basic needs is required to pay Fitrana for themselves and their dependents.
On the other hand, Fidyah is a compensation paid by individuals who are unable to fast due to illness, old age, or other valid reasons. The amount varies based on different food items.
Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman has set the following values for Fitrana and Fidyah per person:
For those who intentionally break a fast without a valid reason, Kaffara must be paid, which involves:
Mufti Muneeb stressed that individuals with greater financial means should give Fitrana, Fidyah, and Kaffara according to their wealth, as this act of charity is a way to purify wealth and help those in need during Ramadan.
Fitrana and Fidyah should be paid before Eid prayers so that the less fortunate can also celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr with dignity. Delaying these obligations defeats the purpose of supporting those in need in a timely manner.
By fulfilling these charitable responsibilities, Muslims can seek blessings, purify their wealth, and uphold the spirit of generosity and compassion in Ramadan.
Fulfilling religious obligations such as Fitrana, Fidyah, and Kaffara is not only a duty but a means of supporting the underprivileged. Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman’s guidance ensures that people can make informed decisions about their contributions.
Make sure to pay your Fitrana and Fidyah before Eid-ul-Fitr to help those in need.
